Book Discussions
Our Book Discussion Series seeks to differentiate itself somewhat from a traditional “author meets critics” event. Criticism is of course welcome. However, we do not encourage criticism anymore than agreement. We are mostly interested in a productive and engaging discussion, in whatever form it may take. Each event will be around two hours, starting with the author presenting their book for 15-30 minutes, followed by discussion from invited scholars, and responses from the author. Anyone interested is welcome to attend. We hope professors and students alike will contribute to and learn from these discussions.
These events will be held intermittently, with no more than one per month. Book discussions will be organized around books our fellows find especially relevant, that make significant contributions, or are otherwise suitable. We very much welcome suggestions as well.
If you have a book you would like to suggest, please contact us at sihaiweixue@hotmail.com
All book discussions will be recorded and shared with anyone interested.
